Practice Manager
Geoff Dennis
I joined Falmouth Health Centre in November 2002 after
managing two smaller Practices in Plymouth and later in Truro. Before that I
worked in industry as Operations Manager for a national medical equipment
company. I live in Gorran Haven and I’m married with two daughters. When I’m not
working I enjoy Cornish Pilot Gig rowing as Club Captain for
St Goran Rowing Club.
Healthcare is now evolving faster than ever and General Practice is at the
forefront of these changes. More and more we are providing complex healthcare
services locally and it is my job to ensure that we have the infrastructure and
facilities for the Health Professionals to meet the needs of our patients.
One of the biggest changes recently has been the introduction of the new GP
Contract. This places greater emphasis on quality and I am delighted that our
clinical team achieved virtually all our quality markers in the first year.
Another big improvement for patients is the introduction of Practice Based
Commissioning. This will let us introduce a greater variety of services from a
wide range of providers that are closer to home and more convenient for
patients. It will also increase clinician to clinician contact so that we can
continue to improve and develop services. By commissioning directly we will have
much greater say in developments and the addition of patient choice will help to
spread demand and reduce waiting times.
I have a special interest in IT and its application in General Practice and as
part of these changes we will be having a major overhaul of our computerised
systems to provide even greater security and give Doctors and Nurses access to
new resources.
We always welcome comments from patients and if you would like to contact me by
